Flushing, MI - Coffee Beanery’s fine quality specialty coffee has recently been granted either “kosher” or “kosher dairy” certification by Rabbi Yisorel Weingarten.
Kosher foods conform to the dietary laws of the Jewish religion. A majority of the rules applies to animals and seafood and what may or may not be consumed by those of the Jewish faith, either at the same meal, or at all. One of the specific laws states that meat and dairy products cannot be consumed in the same meal. All food products are classified either meat, dairy, or neutral (“pareve”).
ALL Coffee Beanery coffees have been certified KOSHER (K Pareve), with the exception of Crème Brulee (regular and decaf) and Sinful Sundae (regular and decaf), which carry the KOSHER DAIRY (K D) designation. This means that they may contain a trace amount of dairy product, thus rendering them unsuitable for serving at a meal where meat is also served. Designations are clearly marked on the packaging of all Coffee Beanery specialty coffees.

Swiss Water Process-A Better Decaffeination
Flushing, MI…The Coffee Beanery offers a healthier way to drink decaffeinated coffee by using the SWISS WATER® Process. All Coffee Beanery decaffeinated coffees are guaranteed to be 100 percent chemical-free using this direct method of decaffeination, which results in a healthier coffee in each and every cup.
The Swiss Water Decaffeinated Coffee Company is the only company in the world that uses pure, fresh water from British Columbia and the unique SWISS WATER® Process to decaffeinate coffee. Zero percent methylene chloride and zero percent ethyl acetate, which means healthier coffee for drinkers. All other decaffeination methods available today require a chemical process.
The SWISS WATER® process begins with a batch of green (unroasted) beans soaked in hot water, which releases the natural caffeine. When all the caffeine and coffee solids are released into the water, the beans are then discarded. How to Use a French Press
The French Press is typically a cylindrical glass and steel contraption popular in Europe that is quickly becoming a household item in America, although unbreakable models are also available. This compact manual machine is rumored to brew a far superior coffee than your standard auto-drip machine due to the fact that paper filters, which absorb flavor oils, are omitted, using a mesh screen instead. Follow these tips on how to use a French Press and enjoy a wonderful cup of Joe:
· Grind and Measure Coffee. Depending on the size of the French press, I recommend using 1 heaping tablespoon of coarsely ground coffee for every 5 oz of hot water. Make sure the grounds are large enough so they don’t clog the mesh.
· Remove top and plunger and put coffee directly into the bottom.
· Pour hot water from the water tap over the ground coffee and fit the top with the plunger pulled up.
· Wait 4 minutes and then, with one hand holding the lid and the other holding the plunger, slowing push the plunger down to the bottom, trapping all of the ground coffee as you go.
· Let sit for 30 seconds to let the grounds settle.
· Pour & Enjoy!
· Remember that any coffee left in the carafe will continue to brew!
